FRONT ANTI-SWAY BAR INSTALLATION INSTUCTIONS

 

SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED:

  • 1-1/8" WRENCH OR LARGE CRESCENT WRENCH
  • 1-1/8" SOCKET, 1/2" DRIVE
  • 1/2" DRIVE AIR IMPACT DRIVER OR 1/2" RATCHET
  • 2-1/2 TON (MIN) FLOOR JACK
  • 6 TON (MIN) JACKSTANDS
  • TWO-POST OR FOUR-POST LIFT (OPTIONAL)

SETUP WITHOUT ACCESS TO LIFT:

  • APPLY PARKING BRAKE
  • CHOCK REAR WHEELS
  • USE FLOORJACK WITH WOOD BLOCK TO RAISE FRONT OF CAR
  • PLACE JACKSTANDS UNDER FACTORY JACKING SPIGOTS
  • LOWER CAR ONTO JACKSTANDS
  • LEAVE FLOORJACK SUPPORTING SUBFRAME

REMOVAL OF FACTORY ANTI-SWAYBAR:

  • REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
  • REMOVE AIR DIVERTER
  • REMOVE PLASTIC ACCESS PANELS IN WHEEL WELLS
  • DISCONNECT LH TIE ROD END FROM WHEEL HUB
  • NOTE ORIENTATION OF TOW BRACKETS NEXT TO FRONT SUBFRAME BUSHINGS
  • DISCONNECT FRONT SUBFRAME MOUNTS:
  • HOLD NUT WITH WRENCH
  • USE RATCHET OR AIR IMPACT DRIVER TO LOOSEN BOLT
  • REMOVE BOLT
  • COLLECT WASHERS, SLEEVE, AND TOW BRACKET
  • SLOWLY LOWER SUBFRAME WITH FLOORJACK
  • DISCONNECT HOSE AT OIL PUMP
  • REMOVE SWAYBAR END-LINKS
  • REMOVE "D" BRACKETS AND BUSHINGS
  • TURN LH SIDE WHEEL HUB FULL LEFT
  • WORK SWAYBAR OUT THROUGH LEFT SIDE

INSTALLATION:

INSTALLATION IS THE REVERSE OF REMOVAL. FOLLOW THESE KEY POINTS AND SUGGESTIONS TO INSURE BEST RESULTS:

  • USE LUBRICANT PROVIDED ON ALL SWAYBAR BUSHINGS
  • CHECK FRONT SUBFRAME BUSHINGS FOR GAPS, TWIST, OR CRACKS AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY
  • WHEN REINSTALLING SUBFRAME BOLTS, TURN ONLY BOLT TO TIGHTEN (HOLD NUT STATIONARY) TO AVOID TWISTING OR CRACKING SUBFRAME MOUNTS
  • FULLY TIGHTEN SWAYBAR END-LINKS WITH SUSPENSION UNDER LOAD
